Mexico To Begin Accepting Bids To Modernize its Ports and Roads Logistics System

The Mexican Secretariat of Communications & Transportation has is opening up bidding for major infrastructural projects throughout Mexico. The Government is pledging Billions of its own money, and encourages the active participation of Private Enterprise. The projects cover road developments in the corridors of the Pacific, North East, Mexican Gulf, Central, SouthEast, and the State of Michoacan.

5 Multimodal complexes are being developed. Presently there are 66 complexes, already built. THe objective is to have built 124 by the year 2012. The Corridors between the port of Salinas Cruz and Manzanillo will be upgraded to improve logistics outputs to Asia.

Next July the secretariat of Communications & Transportation will accept bids for the construction of a specialized terminal for containers in the Port of Manzanillo. In September the government will open bids for the same type of terminal for the Port of Lazaro Cardenas.
