The NAFTA Superhighway Begins to Take Shape

Construction on the Port of Punta Colonet could start within the next 2 years. The project is one of the largest Logistics Infrastructure projects in Latin America. Private investment will reach US$ 2 Billion. The projected construction site is said to be more than 3,000 hectares. The Government will begin bidding out the multi part project in July of 2008.

Included in the project will be a 2.5km rail track, that carry trains from Bahia Colonet to the United States every 25 minutes. Completion of the project is predicted to be in 2014, and will progress in 3 stages.
