World's Richest Man Invests in Mexican Ports

World's Richest Man Invests in Mexican Ports

Leonel Godoy Rangel, the Governor of the state of Michoacán, sat down with Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world, to discuss infrastructure investments. Slim, who has been credited with much of the re-development of the colonial center of Mexico city, and who has made a fortune in Mexico's monopolistic telecommunications sector is now looking for another value investment with great potential.

Estimates for the investment by the Department of Public Works and Communications ranged from US$ 1.5 Billion to US$ 2 Billion. The state presented 2 different projects to the Grupo Carso, owned by Carlos Slim.
One dealing with the State's plan for highways, and the other for its airport. Also on the table are plans to expand the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas.

Mexico's Minister of Public works and communications stated that there were several projects that Slim might be interested in, including an international airport for the Port of Lazaro Cardenas, and several highways connecting Lazaro Cardenas with the rest of the country.
